  • A pinch of paprika (for color)

Instructions

Step 1: Boil the Pasta. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then cook the pasta according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Roux. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Make the Cheese Sauce. Gradually pour in the milk and heavy cream, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Add the cheeses, cream cheese, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.

Step 4: Combine Pasta and Sauce. Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly.

Step 5: Optional – Bake the Mac and Cheese. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.”
